International Shostakovich Days in Gohrisch

Gohrisch is not only an idyllic health resort in Saxon Switzerland, but also a place of international musical history. It was here that Dmitri Shostakovich composed his famous String Quartet No. 8 in 1960 – the only work he ever wrote outside the Soviet Union. This special connection gave rise to a unique festival in 2010, which has since attracted musicians and guests from all over the world every year.

The International Shostakovich Days Gohrisch is now the only festival in the world dedicated to the great composer in this form. In the special atmosphere of the Gohrisch concert barn, visitors experience extraordinary concerts, top-class artists, and unforgettable encounters between music, history, and landscape.
