Due to the topography of the eroded mountains, some sections of the route are very challenging. The tours presented below can of course also be started, shortened, or combined in other parts of the municipality. The character of the paths varies, ranging from gravel surfaces to sections of public roads. Busy roads were avoided in the selection process. Good map material with contour lines is required. Recommendation: detailed maps from Kartographischer Verlag Rolf Böhm, Bad Schandau, or KOMPASS hiking and cycling map of Saxon Switzerland.
THE ELBE CYCLE ROUTE

The Elbe Cycle Route runs from the state border at Schöna to the district border at Heidenau and is 40 km long with minimal differences in altitude. The most scenic sections are Schöna – Bad Schandau and Königstein – Pirna. We highly recommend taking the S-Bahn for the return journey. You can also explore Bohemian Switzerland by bike across the border.

Schneeberg loop (55 km)
Cunnersdorf (260 m above sea level) – Fuchsteich – Rosenthal border crossing – (CR) Schneeberg (722 m above sea level AT, Ghs.) – Maxdorf (Maxicky) – Bodenbach (Podmokly) (120 m above sea level!) – Elbe Cycle Route – Schöna – (alternative: S-Bahn to Königstein) – Bad Schandau – Rietzschgrund – Gohrisch – Cunnersdorf The tour is very challenging but interesting, from Maxdorf to Bad Schandau only downhill (not recommended in the opposite direction), ID required.
